Regina Brett's Fifty Life Lessons: The Twelfth Lesson

Lesson Number Twelve: It's OK to let your children see you cry.

Crying is not a sign of weakness. It could be a sign of vulnerability behind a strong will. I have seen many people whom I did not see crying, yet whose actions and reactions show how "crying babies' they were. People who always complain and are never grateful of the goodness life has to offer them.

Anyway just cry, cry cry when you feel like crying. Let the children see and explain them later why you cried. Children are such easy creatures to teach. They are designed that way. They still have no prejudgments whatsoever inside of them. Letting them see us cry is a learning process for them. It helps them understand that it's okay to see our vulnerabilities at times. It is okay to let out. It is easy to let go. And when all the tears dried up life has to move on again the way it should be.

Crying also brings health benefits for us. It clears us of the emotional toxins we are feeling inside. So whenever you feel like crying whether in front of the children or not just do it. It's always okay.
Get happy!
