3 Productive Things To Do When You Could Not Sleep

Midnight is approaching and I still could not sleep. My consciousness is just too strong to submit to the call of slumber. I envy the gentle snoring of the sweet beings beside me. Why could not I have one?

Instead of tossing and turning I look for ways to put to good use this solitary time I have. I think of three ways: meditate, visualize, pray.

Meditation

I try to close my eyes. Recall the happy moments during the day. Take deep breaths, in out, in, out. Relax my muscles, relax my nerves. I am still fully aware. My eyes are too sleepy to open but my mind is too active to rest. I try the second way.

Visualization

I have dreams. Lots of them. I choose the one which is on top of my priority list. I say my affirmations and visualize it happening at the moment. It feels good. But still my mind is not relaxed. I try my last hope.

Prayer

Many times I did this and many times it worked for me. I first talk to God. Then say the rosary. I always have my rosary with me when I sleep because if I don't, negative energies in human form lure me in my dreams. So I always have it with me. I just did not resort to praying the rosary earlier because I already said my prayers in the morning. Then I remember that this is already another day because midnight has just passed. Without any hesitation, I prayed. Right after praying my mind begin to wander then I already forget everything. The next thing I know I am already in my dreams. It worked once again!

Have you meet this dilemma once in a while? You may try my methods. Who knows it will work for you too.

Regina Brett's Fifty Life Lessons: The Thirty-First Lesson

Lesson Number Thirty-One: However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Do you believe this to be so? For me, yes it is. Just like some of you, I once was a negative thinker. When a situation seemed to be out of hands, I easily panicked and get depressed and frustrated over things that did not turn out the way I planned them to be.

Over the years, this is what I learned, 'however good or bad a situation is, it will change.' There is always hope for bad situations because our loving God up there is watching us. Because He is a loving God, He does not want us to suffer. He is always available every time we ask for S.O.S. over things beyond our control. There is only one condition He is asking of us -- we need to call on Him whenever and wherever we need Him. He does not want us to whine. He does not want us to complain. Like a loving Father as He is, He wants us to explain what we want and ask of Him anything we want, as long as it is in accordance with His will of us.

If we are suffering over something and we thought we have prayed hard enough, yet no answer has been given, I guess this is the time to check the whole situation all over again. Either what we ask have to change, or we, ourselves need to change our values, disposition and direction in life. As long as we need not forget, God always gives what is best for us, that is His weakness.

On the other hand, there are also times when 'good situations' change. As what the song says, 'some good things never last.' It is true. We need not expect good things to last nor to happen all the time. Because God wants us to learn. God wants us to be perfect as He is. It is in these bad situations that we can see the real meaning of life and of our existence. It is in these situations where we need God the most. That's why He allows bad situations to happen because it is in these situations where we are closer to Him.

Quiet naturally, nothing lasts forever. Whatever it may be; good or bad situations alike. Just like night and day, it does not lasts. Therefore, whatever is at hand, let us enjoy it. Always and for always let us call on God. Let us thank Him in good situations and ask for His strength in bad situations. He is the only ONE that lasts forever.

Prayer Affirmation

In our age today, the form of prayer has a new face. Wise gurus discovered it and shared their discovery to the world. It is their way of touching people and helping them create better beings in themselves and others. This form of prayer is described by Socrates as, "You are what you think." Wise gurus said, everything that comes to mind is a form of prayer, whether it be good thoughts or bad thoughts, as long as it is recognized by the mind. Thus, this gurus lead us to the best form of prayer - the positive one. I found one of this prayers, which I pray daily, from Allan Cohen. It is my pleasure to share this with you.
Today I set my mind and heart on a new path. I focus my energy on love, appreciation, and my highest possibilities. Today I claim responsibility for my own success, and step forward with a new enthusiasm to manifest unprecedented good. I use my mind to create only the best, and I draw unto me all the support and resources I need for positive change. Thank you God, for opening the door to a life filled with blessings.
Now go and pray this daily and be transformed in the days to come.

     Be happy!
